More than any other industry, coal mining has left its mark on America's musical heritage. The project, now finished, brings together historical recordings from such figures as Aunt Molly Jackson, Dock Boggs, and Nimrod Workman, and contemporary work form artists including Hazel Dickens, Ralph Stanley II, and Ron Short. The recording will include a song written and recorded especially for the project by Tom T. Hall. Music of Coal is a limited edition 2 CD set (48 songs) with 74 pages of liner notes. Go to shopping and order your copy today.
This project is in honor of Wise County's 150th Birthday and is funded in part by: Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. |
