Lonesome
Pine Office on Youth has been awarded a grant from the Virginia Health Care
Foundation (http://www.vhcf.org ) for Project Connect. Project Connect is
an outreach and application assistance project designed to help eligible
families in Wise County apply for free health care coverage for their children.
Today's economy is taking its toll on all
Virginians; Wise County is no exception. As
many residents have part-time jobs, lower paying
jobs and even lose their jobs, health care becomes a
great issue. Fortunately, children are not
being forced to go without health care, thanks to
the FAMIS program, which provides free health
insurance for eligible Virginia children.
The FAMIS programs
are not Welfare. They help
children receive health insurance and health care
until their parents are able to re-enter the
workforce.
FAMIS insurance covers:
Eligibility is based on a family's
current monthly income (a family of
four earning up to $3,675/month may qualify).
For more information on FAMIS, contact Lonesome
Pine Office on Youth at 276-523-5064, extension
16. An Outreach Worker will help you
complete and submit the application and collect
all the documents you need to insure that, if
approved, your children can begin receiving
health care coverage.
